Flat Earthers

Posters, suffering from a culturally sanctioned delusion who believe in the literal truth of the oral traditions of a semitic tribe living in the area now known as the Middle East transcribed into Aramaic over a period of some 1600 years from 1500 BC onward. They believe in a supernatural being who lives somewhere in the sky and who can simultaneously watch over and read the minds of the entire population of the world.

Examples of these beliefs include:

• The universe was created 6,000 years ago despite many of the objects within it being many billions of years old.

• The earth is flat, and all other astronomical bodies orbit the earth.

• Dinosaurs co-existed with humankind.

• Evolutionary theory is merely a set of "assumption's made by scientist's" (sic).

Such posters seize on the use of the scientific term "theory" and take that to mean that it is only a guess, thereby displaying their ignorance of the concept of falsifiability as developed by Karl Popper. [1]

It is common knowledge that most Flat Earthers are US based, probably Kansas based or ex-Kansas residents, or are Republican vice-presidential candidates.

In the United States, a nation whose inhabitants have not yet mastered the art of using cutlery, Flat Earthers often achieve positions of power. President George W Bush (see Rabid Right) is a prime example.
